This past Wednesday, March 21, 2012, I was on stage at the Ridgefield Playhouse sharing my story of how I went from full-time corporate to full-time consciousness. I also led the audience, of 120+ people, on a guided meditation and then opened my “channel” to connect to the angels.
March 21, 2012 - The Ridgefield Playhouse featured Lisa Jones
It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! Was I nervous? YES! The biggest crowd I had ever worked in front of before was with John Holland at Kripalu. There were about 100 people there, but I also had John Holland, an internationally known medium, standing at my side giving me direction and connecting to the same spirits that I was connecting too – which was so cool! Anyway, at the Playhouse I was on my own, so I told my story, then led the group on the meditation. That all went great, definitely some nerves, but I felt good about it.
Then, I told everyone, “OK, I’m going to open my channel and see what the angels have to say.” I closed my eyes, spread my arms out wide and got NOTHING! Okay, well I got something, but it was faint and I knew I wasn’t fully connected. I think they didn’t come through because I wanted it so bad, and was trying so hard that I actually shut off the opening. I’ve realized that the only way for spirit to come through me is to allow the space between my thoughts and the present moment to be open and free of any thought – and I didn’t have that because I was wanting to prove that I could do this. I seriously contemplated running off the stage. I asked the angels to make me invisible… to no avail.
Then, I took a deep breath and said, “Well, I’m really not getting anything. Are there any volunteers in the audience who would like to come up on stage and we’ll see what happens?” Oh my goodness, half of the crowd raised their hands (sorry to everyone that I didn’t pick)! With the lights in my eyes it was hard to see anyone beyond the first row or two. I choose a beautiful soul, sitting to my right near the front. I won’t use her name; however if you are reading this and want to add a comment about your experience, I would welcome it!
What unfolded next was truly magical. I was able to connect directly to this beautiful soul up on stage – it was as though I was doing a reading in my office – and yet 120 people got to watch. She told me her husband had passed away and I said I’m getting the name, Joseph. ”Oh my God, that was his name!” she said. I felt pain in my chest. I put my hand to my chest. I’m feeling chest pains, was it a heart attack. ”Oh my God, yes it was a massive heart attack.” I said, I’m getting something about leaving a window open. Gasps from her friends in the audience. ”My friend keeps having a dream about Joe asking me to leave the window open!” I was blown away, myself. I always am. That’s why I LOVE this work and I’m so passionate about it, because you never know what’s going to happen.
The next day, someone told my husband that they were glad the angels didn’t come through, when I was initially trying to connect with them. She said, “It made the whole experience so much more real.” What a great lesson for me. Here I am trying to be “perfect” and by not being what I think is “perfect” I created a better experience for someone else. All I have to do is be me – which I tell everyone all the time, and yet I have a hard time remembering this important lesson for myself. Thank you angels, as always – everything happens for a reason.
